FAQs
In most cases, yes. Copper and plastic pipe can be cut back and joined with new fittings there and then, as long as the engineer can reach the damaged section.
Water expands as it freezes, which can split a pipe or push a joint apart. The leak often only appears once the ice thaws, so a pipe can seem fine overnight and start pouring the next morning.
Leave it off until the repair is done. If the burst was on the heating side, the boiler will have lost pressure, and the engineer will refill and check the system before it is switched back on.
It's worth checking your home insurance, as many policies cover escape-of-water damage. Photos of the damage and the invoice describing the repair are usually useful for a claim.
No. An emergency costs the same as any other call-out in the same time band. You pay for the time of day, not the word "emergency".
Travel within the area we cover, attendance, diagnosis and the first 60 minutes of work. After the first hour, time is charged in 30-minute blocks at the extra-time rate for the same band.
